A one-of-a-kind Avanti sold March 30 at the RM/Southeby’s auction in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for what
could be considered another high-water mark for the marque. It is based on one of Raymond Loewy’s
design sketches from 1961, but was never put into production by Studebaker Corp. The modification
was commissioned by the original owner, but we will most likely never know the shop or person who did
