Loewy Museum of
Industrial Design
Artist’s conceptions of the
proposed Loewy museum
Laurence Loewy has provided these artist concept
drawings and models to Avanti Magazine as a preview
of the forthcoming Raymond Loewy Museum of
Industrial Design. No date has been set yet for
construction, but the museum will most likely be
located in the New York city region – an area known as
a modern design center, and also the former home of
Loewy’s U.S. offices.
The concept models and drawings were completed
by Andrew Geller, (Avanti Magazine Issue 125). Geller
was director of design and senior vice president of
Raymond Loewy Associates in New York for 35 years.
Along with the suggested Geller sketches and models,
Loewy is considering the standard modern style
office building with large glass windows, along the
style of the Lever House. Also, a restoration, similar
to the Loewy Building in Roanoke, Va., would be
considered if the project goes foward in an established
neighborhood.
