FROM THE PRESIDENT
D
id your holiday wishes come true? Did you re-
ceive the all expense paid trip to Charlotte? The
AOAI International Meet is just a few months
away. Now is the time to register if you haven’t already.
Start cleaning up your Avanti and order those much-
needed parts to get your Avanti road ready this spring.
There are many chapter and national events planned this
year. Don’t miss out on the FUN.
Reflections on 2003: Member-
ship has grown to nearly 2,000
members as a result of you refer-
ring people to our great club,
along with the welcoming letter
mailing to prospective members.
The AOAI t-shirt promotion
was a huge success. The finance,
marketing/promotions, and rec-
ognition committees have accom-
plished many things. The Cana-
dian chapter was formed, with
more on the way, and we met
many goals as written in our
business plan.
In addition, the membership
questionnaire data was compiled
and we are striving to keep im-
proving. We also received more
media exposure through the 40th
anniversary promotional cam-
paign, the Avanti story brochure
and Chapter fund-raiser efforts.
❏
The AOAI T-shirt promotion has ended for renewing
members. However, the free t-shirt promotion will con-
tinue for new members only starting in February 2004,
while supplies last. Everyone can purchase t-shirts for
just $10 each. They make great gifts for family and
friends. Shipping is paid for by AOAI. See the AOAI mem-
bership form for more details.
I hope you found the 2004 Membership Roster valuable.
Keep it handy while you’re traveling. Please review your
membership data to make sure it is correct. If you would

The Avanti Owners Association International Meet will
be held together with the Studebaker Drivers Club (SDC)
and the Antique Studebaker Club
in Charlotte, N.C., from June 6-
12. This will be a great opportu-
nity for many of our members to
drive their Avanti who couldn’t
drive to Sacramento last sum-
mer.
I’m working hard to get
63R2259 back together for this
summer’s meet.
Steve Montgomery has lined
up a fabulous AOAI banquet din-
ner that features Laurence
Loewy as guest speaker. Steve is
also arranging a special display
to pay tribute to Tom Kellogg.
You won’t want to miss it!
❏
2005 Calendars: Lew is making
great progress with the 2005
Avanti calendar format. This is
the first time these calendars
have ever been produced. We
hope to have these calendars
available for purchase in June.
Proudly display a calendar at work or home. They will
be good enough to even hang in the garage and your
Avanti won’t be jealous.
❏
Chapter Happenings: See what’s happening in your
area. Join the activities and have some fun. I look forward
to the day when I can attend various chapter events
across the globe.
After traveling to Charlotte, you are welcome to join the
Indiana Chapter for lunch while we “Return to Sherwood
Forest” (Bendix woods) and drive a few laps on the for-
mer Studebaker Proving Grounds. The Bosch Automotive
Group has generously allowed us to visit them Saturday
afternoon on July 17.
Complete details can be found in the
Chapter Happenings section in this is-
sue.
Roland Vardon is chairman of the Recognition Commit-
tee. Please talk with your chapter presi-
dent or board members if you wish to
nominate someone to receive a Distin-
guished Member or Lifetime Achieve-
All membership data is protected
ment Award. Complete details are in
and will not be distributed to solici-
this issue.
